Text Box: Chordboard STAC runs best on the Intel-based MAC OSX platform because of the superior design of Apple computers instantly recognizing multiple USB MIDI and musical devices without the need to manually install various device drivers after downloading from manufacturers websites (ie M-Audio on Windows).
The Windows version of STAC also runs well, but there is an initial installation phase needed for various MIDI device drivers for keyboards, etc., because current or applicable drivers are not always installed as a default in Windows. Once downloaded and installed from various manufacturer’s websites, however, the STAC software runs the same as on MAC.
Please watch video to left to see how to put the parts together. You will need a sound source to hear your performances, and this is usually a sound module, a synthesizer, or a digital piano, etc. Some computers have nice sound cards with MIDI instruments available internally, and you can use that, or you can use your DAW’s virtual instruments or plugins, like in Pro Tools or Logic Pro, for example. The STAC software currently does not operate as a VST plug-in, so you will need to send MIDI via midi cable. STAC lets you choose your MIDI based input device, and MIDI output channel and/or signal paths on a MAC or on a PC, so its easy to customize.
The STAC software listens to ALL midi devices recognized by MAC OSX (with Intel chip) or a Windows Vista/Win 7 PC.
